Jannine Gallant: Buried Truth Siren Cove #1

Ries and I wasn t disappointed I love second chance stories where the hero and heroine get a fresh opportunity to get their relationship right after messing up the first time and it was satisfying to see Ryan and Leah finally get their happily ever after However they have to deal with some pretty ugly bad guys to get there Once they realize they ve stumbled into a decades old murder they re faced with so many potential suspects it s impossible to sort the good guys from the villains until the chilling conclusion A terrific cast of uirky supporting characters including Leah s outrageous grandma Evie and her lovable pooch Barney helps lighten the otherwise relentless suspense Good job I just finished reading this book and it was great Buried Truth by Jannine Gallant is a bit different from the other books that I have read written by her That is not to say that I didn t enjoy it I did immensely However the characters are everyday people that you might now in your own town Leah an elementary teacher and Ryan a successful businessman are at the heart of this romantic suspense A fast paced story with star crossed loveThis was my first book by this author and a great place to start with her new Siren Cove romantic suspense series I m a sucker for starcrossed love and second chances and I must say I wasn t disappointed with this book Ryan and Leah dealt with some great villains to solve a decades old murder With so many potential suspects trying to figure out who done it constantly changed so the storyline completely held my attention until the ominious conclusion The cast of characters all flawed and a bit eccentric added an enjoyable touch of humor to a very suspenseful story The happily ever after was completely satisfying. 15 StarsI m always looking for a good romantic suspense but it seems I rarely find one Unfortunately I did not find Buried Truth to my liking The second chance romance was flat and had zero chemistry while the suspense and bad guys were almost caricatural in itstheir portrayal WOW From beginning to end this book ept me guessing Great plot excellent writing Satisfying romance and an intriuing mystery that stayed a mystery to me until the very end A highly charged read that didn t disappoint Buried Truth by Jannine Gallant is the first book in the new romantic suspense series Siren Cove The story introduces Leah Grayson who is a teacher in Siren Cove that has decided as a learning experience for her fifth grade class that it is time to organize a reunion of her own fifth grade class that buried a time capsule in order to unearth the capsule and share what had been in itRyan Alexander had nown Leah all his life and the pair at one point had been deeply in love but Leah had broken it off stating that they were just too different from one another Ryan hadn t planned on attending the reunion but when his mother has an accident he finds himself back in Siren Cove and back in Leah s lifeThere are times when the story switches the point of view to an unknown narrator who seems to have left something in the time capsule that they do not want discovered This leads to a lot of action as attempts are made to stop Leah from finding the evidence that would lead to crimes committed long ago when the capsule was buriedBuried Truth is one of those books that no matter how much I wanted to like the story and what was going on there were little details that just ept nagging at me The first thing I noticed and was a little iffy on was Visit Siren Cove Oregon for gorgeous beaches miles of hiking delightful small town shops and a dark side none of its residents could have possibly imagined Leah Grayson has lived in Siren Cove all her life It's where she buried a time capsule with her fifth grade class Where she spent an unforgettable night on the beach with her first love Where she married then divorced her rotten exBut there's something ugly going on in her pretty little town.

Ushing Leah and Ryan back together Of course this is a romantic suspense so you now it s coming but a little build up would have been niceAs the story went on I also thought that the unknown voice almost got a bit comical instead of menacing or scary like it should be When the bad guys behind the scenes start conjuring images of Larry Moe and Curly Joe it s not a good thing at all But the real icker on this book was the ending itself I thought maybe just maybe my overall rating would be around 3 stars until the final chapters where as soon as the climatic moments came it felt the author skipped a chapter and just dropped all the action midway I just found it all rather odd at that point and decided that no this was not the book for meI received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalleyFor reviews please visit I like my female leads to be strong and courageous or at least grow in character as the book moves forward Leah as the main lead was really iffy she went back and forth so many times that I went back and forth with my decision To read or not to read is the uestion To avoid DNF I ploughed on It took me 4 days to read the book in bits and pieces I hated the main character Though 80% of the book I felt she is just using the male character Rya I m a fan of Jannine Gallant and she didn t let me down with Buried Truth The whole premise sucked me in I remember burying a time capsule in grade school The surprise that awaits in this one and the danger and suspense matched the romance Ms Gallant spun The setting roped me in too as she did a great job of putting us into a small town Lovers of romantic suspense will enjoy this story I d been anxiously awaiting this first book in the new Siren Cove romantic suspense se. When Leah organizes a reunion for her fifth grade classmates to open their time capsule they discover a roll of film no one remembers saving Afterward strange incidents begin happening Warnings Accidents Random acts of vandalismLuckily her first love is back in town too Ryan Alexander has made it big with a wildly popular social media startup but he's still the same sweet cynical man she fell for all those years ago And the chemistry they felt

Write what you know I've taken this advice to heart creating characters from small towns and plots that unfold in the great outdoors I grew up in a tiny Northern California town and currently live in beautiful Lake Tahoe with my husband and two daughters When I'm not busy writing I hike or snowshoe in the woods around my home Whether I'm writing contemporary historical or romantic suspense
