F those you love What I liked1 The unapologetic rawness of the book Cianci has managed to encapsulate the average teenagers mentality sense of invincibility and desire to be whoever they damned well want to be thank you very much It is honest and as one who has dealt with the dark world of drugs and addiction I can agree with a lot of what Lucas observes in his experiences2 Uniue formatting Unlike any other book I ve read Cianci uses a fascinating combination of formatting techniues which make it uite interesting to read Larger fonts bold italics I think there was even a completely different font used at one point It s a daring move and I appreciate Cianci taking such a risk 3 It doesn t feel like you re reading a novel This felt like an autobiography What I didn t like1 The uniue formatting Yes I now it s what I liked as well but there is a part of me that didn t uite understand the impact some formatting was meant to have on me I m slightly obsessive about visual appeal so this may have been the problem The short paragraphs I did not find to be visually appealing though it did make it easier to find the last spot where I left off 2 This is for the slightly conservative reader there is a lot of swearing I myself have a sailors mouth so truly appreciated being able to read dialogue that may as well have been myself talking but this may not appeal to some If you are looking for the perspective of a teenager on life this would be a good book to grab hold of The character of Lucas manages to provide us with a realistic and frank account of the uncertainty faced when hitting puberty entertaining the reader by being frank about the relationships formed and lost and just how the teenage mind works I seem to recall feeling the same sense of invincibility It is a fantastic opportunity for parents to engage with their Black and White kids on the social difficulties which may be encountered due to peer pressure or the desire to be liked by all Cianci has a very different writing style than the majority of authors out there I look forward to reading of his work 45 Stars I finished this in one sitting I thoroughly enjoyed it I loved Lucas s journey and how his mindset and character was developing and changing throughout time I want to give him a hug and tell him how happy he made feel at the end Excellent I need to preface this review by letting younow the author gave me a copy of his book for a fair and honest reviewI was extremely impressed with LUCKY BSTARD by first time novelist Christian Cianci Cianci writes with a raw brutal honesty and passion that is rare these days He held nothing back in describing Lucky s descent into addiction He also wrote beautifully of the humanity that Lucky encountered in juvie and the horrors of a for profit rehab center What struck me most is the universality of Lucky s journey I look back at hard times I ve gone thru and I can relate to Lucky s thoughts and feelings along his journeyMy only complaint is that I would like to The Color of Water know of what transpired and what was spoken between him and Pastor Dan Cianci is to be congratulated on his achievement He has written an engrossing novel Anyone can wake up feeling happy But we need an outlier to feel lu. The afternoon I wish I could tell you I was a product of my environment It would definitely help justify things a little better But that just simply isn't the case I grew up comfortably in the suburbs of New Jersey I went to a decent public school and came from a fairly normal family if there is such a thing Theids my age were all busy applying to colleges The only real worry anyone had was what are we doing this weekend But no not Lucas He's waiting in line for a bologna sandwic.

A bright young man from a loving family and decent schools Lucas opts for an adolescent life of petty crime and idle mischief Which is not a disaster in itself the fact that he is a pretty bad criminal however is Lucky Bastard is the story of Lucas an aimless teenager that somehow finds himself in bad situations and making the most of criminal opportunities This is a coming of age novel that somehow captures the rawness of the classics Think Adrian Mole IS The Catcher in the Rye while maintaining a humour that is dry and self deprecating Think Pat Conroy rewrites anything by John Irving combined with base hedonism Think The Wolf of WallstreetCianci s prose style is rapid and unapologetic emphasised by his creative use of fonts don t ask just enjoy He کسی به سرهنگ نامه نمینویسد knows how to reveal information to his readers gradually with perfect timing while stilleeping the plot unravelling as fast as his hero s lifeThis is a book that combines drama with humour tragedy with redemption please do yourself a favour and read it it is brilliant Lucky Bstard was a very enjoyable read It is a story about young Lucas a memoir that brings back the turmoil of adolescence except that Lucas really takes it to the max I was given this book for free for an honest reviewThis coming of age story is a bit different then some that I have read It was believable it had heart and it didn t turn out super perfect in the end I really enjoyed the book There were times I heard my self say You have to be Cake Pops kidding me uite a few times The pacing in the book was really good I never felt that things were being dragged out or that they were going to fast toeep up with If you want to read my full review This book carried us through Lucas growing addiction and bad choices all with the intent and purpose of being popular liked respected and admired There were so many chances for Lucas Mancini to get the help he needed but being a lucky bstard he always skimmed by without getting caught Until he did Then he had to learn to face life in a restricted area with no one trustworthy to lean on The tales this guy told while brazen and over the top were believable to those that wanted to believe him It is in many ways a gritty story that should put the fear of reprisal for the readers of a certain age It had a familiar ring to it from my younger days Bad choices seem to be made when you are seventeen Thankfully we aren t all as lucky as Lucas Worth reading Good plot and characters 3 StarsThe BookLucas finds himself entering into a world many teenagers find themselves encountering at some or other point Peer pressure drugs a desire to prove that he is one of the top dogs really The problem lies in Lucas inability to maintain control over his desire to be considered the main man Mr Badass who somehow always seems to be able to slip out of sticky situations That is until the day comes that he can t Having stepped on one too many toes and having one too many lucky breaks he is a lucky bastard after all Lucas has to wake up to the reality of where his actions have lead him But will there ever be a day where he realises that sometimes the world really isn t your own and that often your actions leave ripples in the lives Anyone can wake up feeling happy But we need an outlier to feel lucky Now would be a good time to mention how much of a stubborn SOB I am Let’s just say I have an extraordinary talent of making my life harder than it has to be So when I was sentenced to Juvenile Detention followed by an In patient rehab program I can't really say I was that surprised I landed in juvie as a 17 year old high school dropout My hobbies included selling weed smoking pot and sleeping until 3 o' clock in.
Cky Now would be a good time to mention how much of a stubborn SOB I am Let s just say I have an extraordinary talent of making my life harder than it has to be So when I was sentenced to Juvenile Detention followed by an In patient rehab program I can t really say I was that surprised I landed in juvie as a 17 year old high school dropout My hobbies included selling weed smoking pot and sleeping until 3 o clock in the afternoon I wish I could tell you I was a product of my environment It would definitely help justify things a little better But that just simply isn t the case I grew up comfortably in the suburbs of New Jersey I went to a decent public school and came from a fairly normal family if there is such a thing The Brave New World kids my age were all busy applying to colleges The only real worry anyone had was what are we doing this weekend But no not Lucas He s waiting in line for a bologna sandwich hoping not to get shanked with a spork from the inmate behind him The only recruiter that ever paid me a visit belonged to a bootleg Aryan Brotherhood I ll get to that later The bottom line is I had just over 9 months of idle time to figure out how I went from a straight A hero to a drug dealing zero Every day I asked myself Where the F did I go wrong Lucky Bstard is a coming of age tale about a boy named Lucas This is his fight of perseverance second chances and of course luck This for me was anotherind of book that I don t read I generally stick to the sci fi fantasy section of my library but after delving into this book I have to admit I was rather pleasantly surprised at what a great book it turned out to be I struggled a bit with the way the book was written different sized text and what seemed like different fonts was a bit daunting for me but I have to admit Christian definitely had the right idea because it contributed to the story for me in a major way I could almost hear the characters voice and feel his emotions The story was a whirlwind for me and I ept turning the page with mixed emotions over whether I wanted to continue reading or have a panic attack or both I chose both and I was justly rewarded The story was real It was what I would imagine a live book should be It made me introspect and taught me so many great lessons about life I laughed I cried I deeply condemned the choices this character made but I enjoyed it It was a fresh story that really woke up me up I took a great deal from this book and it is my absolute pleasure to recommend it to anyone looking for a book that speaks to them The novel touches on many subjects such as peer pressure addiction and the landscape of rebuilding for a better life Cianci is tone and dialogue on being from New Jersey and speaking the language of Teenagers is genuinely accurate and realistic There are some incomplete sentences but overall it is an enjoyable read WOW What an interesting book that I have to say I really enjoyed AsI started reading this I noticed that Vicki Andrew and Twombie s reviews was spot on I would rate it a solid 45 Stars and look forward to reading other works by Christian Cianci I won this great book on GoodReads and like I do with most my wins I will be paying it forward by giving H hoping not to get shanked with a spork from the inmate behind him The only 'recruiter' that ever paid me a visit belonged to a bootleg Aryan Brotherhood I'll get to that later The bottom line is I had just over 9 months of idle time to figure out how I went from a straight A hero to a drug dealing zero Every day I asked myself “Where the F did I go wrong Lucky Bstard is a coming of age tale about a boy named Lucas This is his fight of perseverance second chances and of course lu.
As a writer Christian's work often bleeds from his experiences He relishes a good comeback It's not how you start It's how you finish Add to the good & dissolve the bad Never let the bastards win & Leave me alone Ma I'm busy trying to become a lyrical gigolo I hope you enjoy my debut novel Lucky Bstard
