Had known each other for 10 FRIENDLY ENEMIES years Aileanna served in Errol s father s household So Errol had never said or done anything until that point to Aileanna and I am supposed to take it at face value that he had always felt something for her I can t Aileana was also an odd character Her connection to her mother made the book eerie In the beginning I kept asking is she her mother or not I don t understand the secrecy She did not really stand out as a heroine to me I didn t dislike her nor did I like her So I cannot imagine why Errol would fall in love For a book that has a rather usual plot line for this genreou need great characters to carry the book Errol and Aileana are both rather weak characters for me So I found it hard to say I liked the book I received an ARC on NetGalley from the publisher in exchange for an honest review I read this because I was promised a book similar to Monica Monica McCartyMcCarty s Highland Guard seriesIt s no secret that I have rather opinionated views on Highland romances Most of the time authors get it terribly wrong in my opinion McCarty however gets it really right So I was a tad bit apprehensive when I started Her Highland Rogue Thinking I could really love this or uttterly hate it Well the good news I didn t completely hate it I was just a bit underwhelmed It s not bad but expecting something like McCarty s books Rand didn t live up to my expectations See McCarty s books shine with three main aspects first the character building Second the clever way she immersed her fiction into historical events Third and in my opinion most importantly her writing style Her description of Scotland make me each and every time feel like I am there again Oh did I mention I lived in the Highlands for a while As I said I am a difficult customer Sadly Rand didn t excel in either of those aspects I found Rand s writing style at times a bit awkward there were no descriptions of the surroundings that are worth mentioning nor is there any historical aspect to this and I really wasn t a huge fan of the character building though it s the best of the threeThe plot is actually my favorite part of this even if it is kinda predictable It had a nice flow and I liked that there wasn t a complete happy clappy end The romance was uhm a bit sudden A bit odd First the hero thinks she is annoying then he loved her all their lives Which one was it nowI didn t feel any chemistry between them The smut was ok again I didn t swoon or anything The first half of the novel I found myself irritated with the characters they were both kinda naive and childish it took me a while to get into the book because of that I was even contemplating if I should DNF after the first 10% Thankfully I did follow my 20% rule Because a uarter in I found it not half as annoying I actually really enjoyed the second half I guess one can credit it to the character growth of the two MCs They kinda did not only grow on me they actually became rather interesting and fun So all in all I think this is an okay Highlander Romance which is that I can say for many others But it didn t meet my admittedly extremely high expectationsHowever if ou looking for a light Highland Romance give it a goWould I read the next book in the series Probably simply because the second half of the book was actually not half bad 35 Fairytale StarsThink Cinderella meets The Highlandsor Fairytale SmutI enjoyed this one a lot than I thought I would although it did involve uite a bit of beliefs being suspended Her Highland Rogue is an historical romance with a bit of a fantastical twist Aileana is found wondering near the MacRae keep and taken in by their Laird her arrival is accompanied with suspicions of being a foundling and even a spy sent by the MacKenzies or was it the MacDonalds Errol MacRae the future Laird and son to the current Laird is sent to find Aileana when she flees the keep because of unwanted attention from one of his men And so begins the insta love Whew Well that was a mouthfulAileana and Errol s love story is a whirlwind one that is probably highly unbelievable but holey entertaining and I most definitely did not complain My only complaint is that the story was paced a wee bit too fast Back to my Cinderella reference Aileana is a kitchen maid who falls in love with the bossy and broody future Laird She s always had a soft spot for Errol and when he comes to her rescue well how much romantic can things getThis was a light sweet and slightly cringe inducing sto. So he isn’t pleased when his father instead sends him to retrieve a beautiful flame haired lass who has fled into the mountains Orphaned as a oung girl Aileana vividly remembers how the MacRaes rescued her and welcomed her into their clan For ten ears she has served them loyally until the night she’s nearly despoile.

After this book I uestion whether Highlanders are to my liking What s taking so long lass More he commanded Meh Demanding arses and less than capable heroines are not my thing Setting Time Genre 1498Length Shortish but enoughSeries Possibly the beginning of a series Sexy times Possibly I will admit I skipped a lot of this book Plan on reading by the author Probably not Synopsis uick like The laird s son Errol is sent after Aileana who is an orphaned woman found back when she was very oung wandering the forest Basically one or Errol s friends has been coming on to Aileana attention she does not welcome Since she is but a lowly kitchen maid remember the clan took her in she takes off for the mountains to escape a potential marriage or rape While in the mountains she meets up with healer Sgur Later Errol meets up with the same healer finds A and brings her back to the clan Somewhere along the way he becomes enad of Aileana and decides he is marrying her even though I d like to point out he is a Laird and she is a maid War is a brewing star crossed business is happening Some slight magical realism ish Etc Heroine Aileana She s a bit silly if Crochet you asked me Who runs off in the middle of winter with nothing rather than standing up for herself She was a bit weak for me and I struggled to connect with her I need a strong heroine Hero Errol He s an ass There Done Said it He felt like a wooden caricature of a Laird to be with little of the good and all of the bad Why it did or didn t work for me The story just felt stilted I kept trying to like the characters but couldn t connect The hero was an immature baby who wanted his way and the heroine couldn t figure out that she could save herself The story line had potential The characters got in the way of it Book provided by Netgalley as an ARC in exchange for a honest review which I have given please forgive me 100% not for me The style was painful for me This is everything I don t like in historical romance No rating because I DNFed very early on Netgalley for honest reviewThis was a very slow paced story I found it was hard to follow and the main characters one dimensionalErrol was told by his Father the Laird to go retrieve Aileana who had run away into the mountains Aileana was an orphan who had served the Laird and his household for tenears But one night she receive some unwanted attention from one of the men and so she ran away So Errol goes to retrieve Aileana and bring her back The two have know each other but never really interacted Aileana has always liked and noticed Errol but he never really paid any attention to her We have a romance and a mystery kind of of Aileana s parentspast We have some magicmysticism going on with Aileana and her past This was a difficult book to finish I found the hero s actions and thoughts immature as well as the heroines Their romance didn t really add up found it odd how the hero ignores the heroine for Playhouse years and then all of a sudden does an about face butet ou really never know what he feltfeeling The heroine seemed to not have any consistency in her behavior or thought processFound this a difficult read pacing was off and characters hard to connect with I received an eARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review 35 Stars Her Highland Rogue by Violetta Rand is book one in the Wild Highland Guardian series This is story is about Aileana and Errol MacRae Aileana was found when she was about 10 ears old in the forest starved cold and alone She was taken in by the McRae and stayed there until one day one of the men tried to assault her Aileana took off into the woods again Now Error is told to go and look for her which Error is not all that excited to do Error knows that his days of roaming are over since his father doesn t seem to be in good health Now he finds himself looking for Aileana when he would rather be enjoying a women Although Errol and Aileana have lived in the same Highland Tribe they never really interacted enough to know one another I defaulted to 35 stars because I thought Errol was not a manly Highlander that I likehe was somewhat Desire and Deceive young in thoughtsactions But overall enjoyed the bookPlease follow reviews at the below sites I don t strongly dislike the book it just was ok I found it difficult to connect with both characters Errol seemed like aoung boy who had to go out and look for this wayward girl because his father asked him to I was never sure about his feelings toward Aileana They. Errol MacRae’s days of gallivanting across the Highlands are nearing an end His father’s health has taken a turn for the worse and rumors are swirling that the crown intends to transfer ancient lands into the hands of the MacKenzies the clan the MacRaes are sworn to defend Errol expects to lead his men into battle soon.
