The first thing I noted was that Dean is excellent t world building I m no particular expert on Ancient Rome but to me it seemed like the story was historically ccurate I was immersed in historical cities with gladiators excess nd coliseums I found the time nd place fascinating nd so well written that for time nd place lone I would ve kept reading simply because it was uniue nd different I liked that Dean wrote in first person from Lucia s point of view Rainbow Brite: Starlite Saves the Day and I truly enjoyed seeing the world through her eyes To be honest I generally dislike first person so that wasnother first for me that I enjoyed it here Dean clearly writes very well The book was too short for my tastes for A Social History of Modern Art, Volume 2: Art in an Age of Bonapartism, 1800-1815 all that happened during itnd it moved t n incredibly fast paced so fast I lmost felt rushed I still enjoyed nd savored every page every moment every word nd I desperately wanted to see Dean was very good bout marking how much time had past either using the The Unspeakable Mind age of characters or byctually stating it which was important The story takes place over the first 30 or so years of Lucia s life nd without the marking of time I could ve been very lost Dean seemed to be cognizant of her reader s possible confusion while writing nd filled in Time and Philosophy: A History of Continental Thought any holeslmost immediately making it Murder at Beechwood an easy fastnd fun read What else is there to say Good characters Oh Marcus fans self great location nd time period nd wonderful romance put this book on your to read list right way I just love to read story that takes you to the past To get lost in the pages of Ask an Astronaut: My Guide to Life in Space a twist love story that you cannot put downI can t really put it to words without giving itwaySo I Revelations from Revelation (Mass Market) am going to have to say that this is most read for Jane and the Stillroom Maid (Jane Austen Mysteries, anyone who is looking for different kind of historical love story It s not Crude World: The Violent Twilight of Oil a mushy love story but one that if full ofction nd heatI m giving this one 4 stars Note This review nd ll my reviews comes from my blog Romantic Rose s Bookshelf This review was done on n ebook copy provided by the lovely ladies Alien: Sea of Sorrows at Sirens Song ReviewsLucia s father owns slaves but most especially he owns gladiators One named Marcus has shown particular promisend Lucia s father has great Journey Of Fate aspirations for him but first he must learn of the Gods Determined to have Marcus learn Lucia s father demands that she teach himll she knows Judas of Nazareth: How the Greatest Teacher of First-Century Israel Was Replaced by a Literary Creation about the Roman godsnd the glory of Rome However what starts Make it Happen: Surrender Your Fear. With Lucia nd her slave can their love survive the distance thrust upon themThis book sounded really interesting mostly because of the uniue time period Historical romance is genre dominated by one time period nd place Regency England Other much minor time periods Satellite and places include the Wild WestAmerican Frontier Medieval Europend the European Continent during the 1800s Very few people write romances set in Rome Blank Darkness and for that reason I was definitely intrigued And the novella was justs good s I hoped in fact I wish it had been full length novelThe first thing I noted was that Dean is excellent Makers at world building Im no particular expert on Ancient Rome but to me it seemed like the story was historically The Heart Has Its Reasons accurate I was immersed to the hilt in historical cities filled with gladiators sinful excessnd coliseums I found the time Americana: A 400-Year History of American Capitalism and place fascinatingnd so well written that for time nd place lone I would ve kept reading simply because it was uniue nd different daring nd bold I liked that Dean wrote in first person from Lucia s point of view Kneller's Happy Campers and I truly enjoyed seeing the world through her eyes To be honest I generally dislike first person so the fact that I wasble to enjoy it here was Haunted Houses For the Millions another surprise Dean clearly writes very wellThe book was too short for my tastes especially forll that happened during it it moved t n incredibly fast pace so fast I Reclaiming Love: Radical Relationships in a Complex World almost felt rushed I still enjoyednd savored every page every moment every word Playing with Fire: How the Bible Ignites Change in Your Soul and I desperately wanted to see Dean was very goodbout marking how much time had past either using the The People's Songs: The Story of Modern Britain in 50 Records age of characters or byctually stating it which was important The story takes place over the 15 or so years of Lucia s life nd without the marking of time I could ve been very lost Dean seemed to be cognizant of her reader s possible confusion while writing nd filled in ny holes lmost immediately making it The Dawn of Christmas an easy fastnd fun readMarcus is interesting sexy romantic nd surprisingly contemporary I got generally modern esue feel from him probably due to the fact that he s Bark a self made mannd Eden's Gate a scholar He was patient sweetnd Her Bear Twins adorable with certain little girl who served s secondary character I liked Lucia nd felt bad for ll she suffered before her HEA but it was Marcus who really caught my eye Some people may be bothered by My Lady Viper (Tales From the Tudor Court, a few of hisctions but I enjoyed how real he seemed nd how he was ble to dmit he had needs nd that one of those was for comfortWhat else is. Me though changes much Marcus softened nd I grew unafraid As we became closer I grew than merely unafraid – I grew to love him Never did I think we would be separatedI was wrongI forced myself to forget Forget Marcus forget the lm.
